You certainly can’t climb Kilimanjaro in a day, but our day tour of this iconic, snow-capped mountain will give you an excellent taste of why Africa’s highest peak is so popular. During the day, we will follow the popular Marangu Route and walk as far as the first hut —the Mandara— where our picnic lunch will be taken. As other trekkers continue upwards, bound for the summit, we will make the descent again and return to Arusha.
Life on Safari

Day 1
Your day tour begins with your hotel pick-up at 6:00 am. You’ll drive 3 hours to the Marangu Gate where you will register at the gate with the Kilimanjaro National Park authorities. You will begin hiking at around 11:00 am. The Marangu Route, which we follow today, approaches Kilimanjaro from the southeast. You will be attempting to reach the Mandara Hut and will only trek through the lower altitudes, taking your picnic lunch on the way to the Mandara Hut. Once you reach the hut at 2:00 pm, you will stop for a rest for 30 mins. Then, you’ll descend slowly back to Marangu Gate for 2.5 hours. The vehicle will be waiting to pick you up and return you to your hotel in Arusha/Moshi or drive you to the airport.

"The private setup meant we could spend 45 minutes with a cheetah and cubs without feeling rushed. The lodges were far beyond what we expected."
"As first-time safari travelers, we were nervous. From the moment we arrived, Serengeti African Tours took care of everything. The Ngorongoro Crater literally took our breath away."
"Booked through SafariBookings and couldn't be happier. Every detail was handled perfectly. Guide Abouh is extraordinary — his knowledge of wildlife is encyclopaedic."
